Kite – The Legends Collection

By Tom Stutt / Oct 9, 2018

The Legends Collection draws inspiration from London and the wealth of history and creativity it has to offer. The designs pay homage to centuries of innovation across materials, techniques and forms which have developed in the city. The end result is a range of four frames designed with traditional aesthetics in mind, but which have been updated with modern sensibilities and manufactured with cutting-edge technology.

The timeless designs offer the simple elegance of handcrafted artisanship, while embodying the spirit of innovation and forward thinking that consumers have come to expect from Kite. The four styles feature minimalist wireframes, laser cut from featherweight stainless steel, as well as premium leather detailing and an elevated level of quality.

The iconic frames are presented in a handmade case, designed in London and produced in Somerset.

The case is slim, sophisticated and made with the finest Italian leather. When fitted into the case, the Legends frame faces inwards to protect the lenses and frame while showcasing the unique temple tip design from behind. The same Italian leather found on the Legends frames is used to craft the case, creating a visual and spiritual connection between the two and a consistent premium level of quality.

To support the launch of the Legends campaign, Kite have collaborated with four artists who are redefining the sound of London, creating music which reimagines tradition and heritage art forms while pushing the boundaries of genre to create compelling, culturally-relevant work.

Cherise Adams-Burnett

Cherise is a 23 year old singer, songwriter and composer from North London who is developing a reputation in the UK for her collaborations with prominent jazz performers (Ashley Henry included), songwriting for genre-defying acts like Trope, and compositional skills which saw take part in Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead at the Kennedy Centre. More recently she performed at the Jazz Cafe, Camden, in a show dedicated to the Windrush Generation, of which her grandparents were a part.

Ashley Henry

Ashley, a pianist and composer from South London, is a rising star on the British jazz, hip hop and pop scenes and recently released his breakthrough EP on Sony/Silvertone. As a bandleader, he has performed at venues across the UK and Europe including appearances at the International Piano Trio Festival and the Unisia International Piano Competition in South Africa. As a sideman, he performs regularly with the American singer and personality China Moses, French innovator Christine and the Queens, and has shared stagers with jazz magnates Terence Blanchard, Jean Toussaint and Keyon Harrold.
