Continuing on from the huge success of the past season, Converse and JW Anderson return with the much-anticipated Converse x JW Anderson Chuck 70 Toy collection, available to buy in store and online from Thursday 19th July.
The collection brings together JW Anderson’s forward thinking and high fashion design with the iconic, made for everyone sneaker. With an innate ability to elevate the mundane into eccentric and provocative statements, the Converse x JW Anderson Toy collection transforms an iconic design staple into something fresh and new.
Modern fashion and contemporary craftsmanship collide at the core of everything Jonathan Anderson does. For ten years the visionary designer has urged art out of the gallery and onto the catwalk through his namesake brand, JW Anderson; now, his innovative collaboration with Converse – one of youth culture’s most radical and enduring icons – emphatically redefines the intersection of fashion and art. Continuing their dynamic partnership, Converse and JW Anderson launch Toy, a sculptural tribute to colour and gloss.
This new drop sees the classic Chuck 70 reimagined for a generation of aesthetes, in ultra-slick patent leather and conflicting graded colourways. It’s high-energy, it’s provocative, it’s unapologetically playful: Toy is art, but not as you know it.
A brilliant combination of textures inform the design of the Chuck 70. “Gloss” in the form of patent leather, an exuberant application of color, and laces that mimic the stucco of San Francisco, make even the most youthful of sneakers, feel toy-like.
As season two kicks off, the brands will come together in London to celebrate the creative communities that welcome both the respective, and collaborative designs of Converse and JW Anderson into their lives every day. The four-day pop-up, which takes Jonathan’s approach to the Converse x JW Anderson Toy and translates it into a retail experience, will be located at 20 Beak Street, London W1F 9RE from 19th – 22nd July. The full programming for the pop-up will be announced on Thursday 19th July.
